Following his retirement in 2013 he and his family returned to Duluth, MN, where he consulted to Range Light Maritime Consulting, LLC of Corpus Christi, TX, conducting hazard to navigation determinations on decommissioned sub-sea pipelines, maritime accident investigation and maritime expert witness research. Michael also works full time for DTE Energy managing technical services and implementing a highly successful safety culture at their Superior Midwest Energy Terminal which has resulted in over five years without an OSHA recordable injury.

 

In his spare time Michael Bass fishes competitively in local and national level tournaments. He is also active with disabled military veterans through the Warriors Ice Hockey program.
